Reporting to Senior Vice President, Intermediates Asia Pacific, the incumbent will be responsible for:

  • the development and execution of effective and proactive communication strategy as well as communication concept and toolbox for Intermediates unit in Asia Pacific
  • providing advice to the Regional Business Unit (RBU) Head and leadership team on all communications-related issues including investment projects
  • working closely with Global Communications of Intermediates unit (CI), Regional Corporate Communications and Country Corporate Communications to ensure messaging is consistent to all internal and external stakeholders and in accordance with corporate communication policies and standards
  • managing external communications and public relations, branding and internal communications



External communications

  • Investment communication – Develop communication plan and timeline for high level investment projects of new production plants. Conduct risk assessment and advise the communication approach. Develop key messages, standby statements and Q&A in term of different scenarios. Plan and work closely with product and marketing team to develop pre-marketing campaign before, during and after the completion of local production plant for achieving the business growth.
  • Marketing communication - Plan and implement marketing communications strategy. Formulate and implement excellent integrated marketing campaign (customer events, promotions, fairs and exhibitions, advertising and online / social media etc.) for product launches, innovation, sustainability and industry target group etc.
  • Issues Management & Business advocacy – Identify current and emerging issues (industry-related, social, economic, cultural or otherwise) that are likely to affect the organization and its perception among key constituents. Work closely with the global and regional communications network to build strategic communications plans to proactively manage these issues in order to protect and enhance the company's reputation and brand. Coordinate with issue owners to follow up and update the strategies and follow up actions.
  • Crisis communication - Develop crisis communications plan and manage the implementation of the plan in response to emerging crisis incidents. Ensure escalation is managed in an appropriate and timely manner for the business.
  • Public relations – Develop and Implement PR strategy in trade media. Handle incoming media enquiries and foster good working contacts with trade journalists. Invite journalists for interviews. Ensure good coverage of intermediates unit related topics in trade media. Coordinate briefing documents for media interviews and support top management communications.
  • Branding - Develop and implement a consistent product branding strategy for the RBU as part of the division’s global branding strategy. Systematic and continuous exploitation of branding opportunities. Ensure an effective brand risk management in term of brand alliance with third parties.

Internal communications

  • Assist the RBU Head in efficient leadership communications within the RBU, the Division and the Region.
  • Strengthen employee communications at offices and sites by developing and implementing tools such as internal newsletter, intranet, employee activities etc.
  • Manage and implement the communication plan for various projects related to organizational changes and facilitate a platform for open communication among internal stakeholders


  • Bachelor degree in Journalism, Marketing or Mass Communications
  • At least 8 years working experience in public relations, project management, and marketing communication preferably both in agency and in-house in an international and multicultural environment
  • Strong competence in influencing and impact in order to lead the function in a complex region and influence global, regional and local counter-parts
  • Excellent creative and conceptual abilities (planning, analytical, creative, client and goal oriented)
  • Intercultural/international management and negotiation skills and good understanding of Asian markets and its cultures in particular
  • High commitment and willingness for working hands-on
  • Flexibility to travel in the region
  • Excellent English and preferably good Mandarin verbal and written communication skills
  • Good in presentations, event moderation and public speaking
  • Excellent working knowledge of basic computer programs (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Templates, Webmaster)
